The most common and widely accepted scale is 1:12, meaning that one inch in the dollhouse represents twelve inches (one foot) in real life. This scale allows for incredible detail while maintaining workable proportions. A standard room in 1:12 scale measures approximately 12 inches wide, 8 inches deep, and 8-10 inches high.
Other popular scales include 1:24 (half-scale) and 1:48 (quarter-scale), each offering their own unique challenges and charms. Quarter-scale miniatures, while requiring exceptional precision, can fit entire room scenes into spaces smaller than a shoebox.
